and jazz, music also constitute an important part of the heritage of Italian
musical these genres have a varied style of culture to offer, with its own
instruments and its unique regional touches.
Just like viva la vida Italian music is generally classical and eclectic. No
protectionist movement has ever been attempted in order to retain the purity
of Italian music. Purity here refers to the no-foreign-influence state of
Italian music (except for the period during the Fascist regime, which
spanned between the 1920s and 1930s).
This is the reason for which Italian music comprises of many elements of the various groups, nations, regimes etc. which once upon a time ruled over it. This list would include the Spanish, Arabs, French, Slavic Peoples and the Greeks. The historical contribution made by Italy to the field of music is a reason for which the Italians take pride in Italian music.
The development of an opera tradition has been noticed in the relatively recent history of Italy. This fairly new opera tradition has spread across the world. Before the development of a unified Italian state or Italian identity, the peninsula of Italy made very vital contributions to the field of music.
Such contributions include the development of Gregorian chant and the development of musical notation Immigrants who came from around the region of the Mediterranean, North Africa, the Balkans and Greece have created large communities in the southern peninsula.
This has resulted in the creation of folk music on Sicily and features typical of elsewhere in the Mediterranean are now displayed by the southern Italian mainland. An excessive nasality in the voice is included in these. There is also a tendency of extreme ornamentation of the pitch.
