Romany Music
Romany music is also known by the Gipsy music. They moved from place to place to
spread there music and entertained people for a very for a very long time. The
Romany music became famous in many countries like Europe, North Africa, Middle
East countries and North West India. Their music influenced the people of India,
Greek, Persia, Turkey, German etc. and it touches the 19th century print of
Romany musicians.

They also had various kinds of instruments that they played according to the
instrument that belonged to that particular country. The Romany music was
mainly vocal and their songs were very soulful that touched your hearts
deeply. Instrumentation varies widely according to the region the music
comes from. The Romanies descended from an Indian people and migrated
towards westwards, before AD 1000.
Today also there are a large number of Romanies mainly in the parts of
Rajasthan and other areas of India. They play wonderful music in Rajasthan
known as the Langa music. There they play music on puppetry, snake dance and
jugglers. The Rajasthani instrument known as Khartal that is played
beautifully by the Romanies. The Romany people lived in Bulgaria and from
there they spread their music in the remaining parts of Europe. People in
central and Eastern Europe had strong tradition for the Romany music.
The purest and the most perfect form of Romany music were very much loved by
the Spanish people. The Romany music also started in the restaurants,
parties. Though the music drew its theme from Hungarian, Romanian, Russian
and other sources of Romany origin, but the more sophisticated was popular
in places like Budapest and Vienna. Later on it also got very popular in
cities like Paris, Berlin and Brussels.
The Romany orchestra could be heard playing their sophisticated melodies of
East European origin. The classical Turkish music reached the people of
modern cities and towns via the meyhane or taverna. This kind of music got
famous in the public places where people used to eat with alcoholic
beverages. They used to enjoy this music while drinking alcohol. It was
found in the high societies of modern Turkey.
The music was also played with the belly dancers performing on this tune.
The most famous fasil musician was known as Clarinetist Mustafa Kandirali.
The Rajko orchestras became famous in the western countries in the second
half of the 19th century.
The Cimbalom, was a musical instrument that was not known to the western
music that sounded almost like a violin. This music was very famous in the
restaurants, night clubs, parties and the stage concert performances.
The Romany music is the most famous music in the world having covered
thousands of miles in an expedition that has lasted many centuries and has
taken on the colors of all the places it has settled along the way. The
Romany music was so wonderful which had the combination of both the ancient
and the western music and is still alive in the hearts of millions of
people..
